Dr Julia Chen

Dr Julia Chen is a medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of breast cancers. She is a conjoint senior lecturer with the University of New South Wales. Her other interests are genitourinary cancers and clinical trials.
She was awarded her medical degree with honours from University of New South Wales. She completed internal medicine and medical oncology advanced training at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals, followed by a clinical research fellowship at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre in breast and genitourinary cancers. During this time, she also completed her Masters of Medicine at University of Sydney. She has since embarked on a PhD investigating biology of triple negative breast cancer using novel single-cell genomic and spatial methodologies at Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and is a recipient of UNSW Scientia Scholarship and Madridulu Budyari Gumal (SPHERE) Cancer CAG PhD scholarship.
Dr Chen is an active investigator in breast cancer clinical trials at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre and is involved with professional bodies including Australian and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group and Australia and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group. Apart from Kinghorn Cancer Centre, she also works as a staff specialist at St George & Sutherland Hospitals.
